What can I encode in a QR code?

Any text at all: URLs, plain notes, email addresses, phone numbers, and standard formatted strings such as Wi-Fi credentials (WIFI:T:WPA;S:Name;P:Pass;;) or vCards. The tool encodes exactly what you type, so a QR for a Wi-Fi network must use that WIFI: format for phones to recognize it.

How much data can a QR code hold?

Up to 4,296 alphanumeric characters or 7,089 numeric digits at the lowest error correction level. URLs and short text are ideal. Very long text will produce dense QR codes that are harder to scan.

What error correction level should I use?

Level M (15% recovery) is the best balance for most use cases. Level H (30% recovery) is best for printed materials that might get damaged. Level L is for maximum data density when the QR code won't be physically handled.

Can I make the QR code match my brand colors?

Yes. You can customize both the foreground (dark) and background (light) colors. Just ensure sufficient contrast — the scanner needs to distinguish between light and dark modules. A contrast ratio of at least 4:1 is recommended, and the tool warns if you pick colors too close together.

Why won't my QR code scan?

Three things usually cause scan failures: low contrast between the foreground and background — aim for at least a 4:1 ratio and avoid near-identical colors; output size too small — download at 300 px or larger for reliable phone scanning; and very long text at a low error correction level, which produces a dense code — try raising the error correction to M or H, or shorten the text.
